Walk Off The Weight - How Walking Can Help You Lose Weight
By Sean Bower
Many people nowadays really want to lose weight but they can never stick to a plan. I really think the reason for this is because of the exercise they do. The best exercise for your body should be fun and pain free.
So what is the best exercise you can do to lose weight and look great?
The best exercise you can do is walking! Walking is a complete exercise because everything is moving; your arm, your leg, your digestive system, and much more!
The benefits of walking:
- Stretch your ligament and muscles.
- Burn fat as fuel, which cause weight loss.
- The burning fat release beneficial vitamins.
- Release toxin within your system.
- Prevent depression, colon cancer, constipation, osteoporosis, and impotence
- Lengthen lifespan
- Lower stress levels
- Relieve arthritis and back pain
- Strengthen muscles, bones, and joints
- Improve sleep
- Elevate overall mood and sense of well-being.
Lose Weight Slowly
A steady routine is the most important factor in getting the most out of your exercise program. Walking for at least 30 minutes a day, 5 or more days a week is recommended.
Use these tips to keep you on track:
- During your walks, you should be able to maintain a conversation. If you're breathing too lightly, increase your pace. If you can't catch your breath, slow it down.
- Walk around the local area after lunch or dedicate 15 minutes to walking up and down stairs. Climbing is an excellent way to strengthen your heart.
- At night, trade a half hour of TV for a brisk stroll around the block. Take a friend with you for company or get the whole family involved.
Walking is the Best Exercise for Weight Loss
Any amount of walking is good, but for the best health results, set a brisk pace and walk for 30 minutes at least 5 times a week. Be sure to check with your doctor on the level of exercise that's best for you.
Walking is great exercise that can be accomplished by almost anyone. Here is how you can start a walking program easily:
1. Get good sneakers with firm heel and ankle support.
2. Start out with a light walk then get faster and faster.
Tips to use when walking to lose weight:
- Bend your knees to find balance.
- Swing your arms as you walk.
- Try using an iPod or other MP3 player to add entertainment to the walk. Books on tape make the walk go by faster and you may want to walk longer.
- Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy, supportive athletic shoes.
Final thoughts
If you are serious about losing weight, walking is an excellent way to lose weight but you also need to eat right. Eating right is the most important thing you can do but many don't know how to quit eating junk foods.
Do you know why certain weight loss program work for some people and some gain more weight? Because everyone is different and if you eat foods that aren't designed for your body, then you will gain weight instead of losing weight.
