Being overweight is nothing new. But the magnitude that is affecting our children and society in general is a relatively new phenomenon. Diabetes is on the rise, high blood pressure, heart disease are rising as well. The risk of getting one of these diseases rises as your weight goes up!!! Scary thought isn't it?! BUT , this is the best part!!! YOU can prevent it from ever happening!!!! Think about that for a minute, You can prevent it!! The only thing you have to do is get your waistline in check!!!



Have you noticed that the Health care professionals and nutritionists throw around phrases like Body Mass Index , metabolic rate and so on. Most of us find this jargon confusing and give up trying to lose weight before we even begin!!! To help you get going, here are some easy steps to start losing weight. These steps will help you reduce your midsection and tummy fat. As you continue you will become motivated due to the results occur (and they will sooner than you think!!). You will learn more in future tips. This is as simple a plan that there is!!!



Before we go much further let's get one thing crystal clear. You are embarking on a lifestyle change. I am sure you want to change it. You are reading this and it is for a reason. You can do it. You will achieve your target fat loss, you will lose the weight. A healthy lifestyle is not a scary as you think. Thank yourself for this change.



So here are some simple things to start with. Of all the diet plans I have been exposed to there are some steps that are common to them all.



1. Eat small frequent balanced meals. Eating 4 - 6 times a day will help you burn calories more efficiently. Never go more than 4 hours without eating something eating.



2. Get in active in something. Get moving around. Not necessarily exercise( if you can even better) but at this early stage just move around. Go for a walk, walk the dog, window shop. The old saying here is so true, a body in motion tends to stay in motion. A walk is a great way to burn calories.



3. Drink more water and less soda. Water has a number of benefits to the body. Two benefits are it suppresses hunger. If you are hungry and it is not time to eat then drink a glass or two of water. Water flushes garbage from the body. This " garbage" blocks toxins from exiting the body and fat loss is limited. Weight loss depends a great deal on water intake. Enjoy!!!



4. Cut the fat!!! If you eat a lot of take out or fast food you are consuming way to much saturated fat. We know where the fat is stored in the body. Yup, our stomach, love handles, butts!!!! Try to avoid food that has a high fat content.



5. Pay attention to what you eat and when. You will see the problem foods after only a week!!! Try writing on a pad of paper what you eat and when. Review it after a week and you should see a pattern. Chances are that you have eaten the same way for a long while. Habit change requires attention to the problem. The food is the problem primarily.
